After a summer break, we are back with the SHAPE radio show on Resonance FM, presenting artists associated with SHAPE, a new European platform for musicians and audiovisual artists. Autumn is typically the busiest time for festivals involved in this project. There’s Unsound, RIAM, UH Fest, Skanu Mežs, Maintenant, Insomnia and many others. Today, we are going to focus on musikprotokoll im sterischen herbst a festival with a long tradition, established in 1968 and organised by the Austrian broadcaster ORF. It functions as a kind of laboratory, presenting its programme in theme-based blocks, as well as offering its adventurous audience site-specific works. This year, several SHAPE artists will perform in Graz, the location of the event, including: Lorenzo Senni, Marco Donnarumma, Hildur Guðnadóttir and Ketev. You will hear interviews with artists nominated by this festival for SHAPE, who are set to perform there between 8th and 11th of October.
