Gischt, the solo project of Ursula Winterauer, draws its inspiration from the disparate sounds of metal, techno and ambient music. Eclectic soundworlds collide, moulded into shape via her precise, as well as vehement, use of live bass guitar, synthesiser and electrosmog clouds. It’s an impeccably arranged interaction between drive, brutality and seduction that Gischt establishes in her live performance which, despite all its force, also lets us come to rest. She has performed at Austrian festivals such as Unsafe+Sounds Festival 2017, Hyperreality 2019 (as part of the Wiener Festwochen), Elevate 2020, as well as internationally in Zurich, Berlin, Priština, Bratislava, Poreč and New York. Her debut album, soon to be released, will be presented at the donaufestival 2021, held in Krems, Lower Austria.
In addition to curatorial work, Winterauer co-founded Ventil Records in 2015 and works as a composer and sound designer for film.
