Stream a new track by SHAPE 2015 alumnus Chra – the track has been created for Spectral Sounds, a sound art exhibition in Innsbruck, Austria. As one would expect from Chra, the track is accompanied with a quote, this time by famed pop music producer and composer Quincy Jones: “If architecture is frozen music then music must be liquid architecture.” Chra further elaborates the theme of the piece with the following words: “The state of a security or other asset that cannot easily be sold or exchanged for cash without a substantial loss in value. Illiquid assets also cannot be sold quickly because of a lack of ready and willing investors or speculators to purchase the asset. The lack of ready buyers also leads to larger discrepancies between the asking price (from the seller) and the bidding price (from a buyer) than would be found in an orderly market with daily trading activity.” Chra is the alter ego of Viennese author, DJ, music addict and radio/TV presenter Christina Nemec. After a period experimenting with low frequencies and noise effects, chra started to work on more club-friendly beats, using sinewaves processed through a tape recorder and other analogue and digital tools to allude to landscapes, territories, silence and extraordinary and extreme situations. She is also a member of Shampoo Boy and SV Damenkraft.
