Flora Rabitti is a designer, illustrator, creative director and founder of FLORANIA: a hyperlocal solarpunk design collective working on circular fashion.
Born in 1992 in Mantua, she moved to Milan in 2011 to graduate in fashion design at IED Moda. In 2014 she was a finalist for the Swiss Cross Textile Award and winner of the Fur Futures London Award. Also in 2014 she began her career, before graduating, among more established companies such as Prada (Miu Miu’s style office) or Alberta Ferretti and later in independent realities, such as Vitelli in 2019. Rabitti alternates work with further studies in other European cities, including London for Central Saint Martins London and Paris for the Institut Français de la Couture Paris.

In 2021, after a research trip to Japan, she founded her brand Florania, an independent, genderless and no-season ready-to-wear clothing brand offering total look garments, sustainably made and designed, handmade between Milan and Mantua.
The brand is listed as one of Camera della Moda’s New Talents in 2022 and collaborates with NABA Rome, IED Milan, Sakura Collection (Tokyo), Venchi, Napapjiri, Chef Niederkofler’s Horto restaurant, Italian Embassy in Tanzania, Uniqlo (March 2023).

Florania is featured as ‘Designer for the Planet’ by Camera della Moda Italia, as ‘New Creative Synergies’ by the VogueRama show in Milan, as an emerging designer by Sakura Collection in Brooklyn (NYC) and Chiba (Tokyo), as a new Italian designer by Swahili Fashion Week (Zanzibar).

Respect for natural resources is not only a constant mantra at Florania. Artisanal production takes place between Milan, Giambellino, and Mantova, the designer’s hometown, where the pattern-makers and seamstresses of the Drittofilo social tailoring shop make a key contribution to production. Drittofilo is a workshop where women in particular social situations, between domestic violence and employment problems, are supported. It is a project supported by Caritas, Centro Aiuto alla Vita Mantova and Lubiam.
The brand is now composed of: Flora Rabitti (owner, creative director and design), Fabio D’Onofrio (art director), Gloria Costani (partner, production manager), Matilde Pelizzoni (model designer) and Drittofilo social tailoring in Mantua.
