Richard Eigner is an Austrian electronic musician & drummer based in Vienna and Linz. With his main musical project Ritornell, he has released three albums on the label Karaoke Kalk. His studio drumming has been featured on productions by the likes of Flying Lotus, Dorian Concept, Dimlite, Flako, Patrick Wolf and Patrick Pulsinger, amongst others. Richard’s doctorate work dealing with the artistic research of the conceptual topic »The Denoising of Noise« has been presented in Hanoi, New York, Québec, Beirut, Madrid, Bangor, Florence, The Hague and Düsseldorf. Artist residencies, live concerts and sound art exhibition projects have led him to Tehran, an isolated alpine hut in Austrias mountains or the Spatial Sound Institute with it’s 4D soundsystem in Budapest. He has contributed soundtracks for theatre plays by director Philipp Preuss at Theater und Oper Heidelberg & Volkstheater Wien, sound design for projects by Musiktheaterkollektiv Agora at Bayerische Staatsoper München & BCV Concert Hall Lausanne and to various works of experimental film artist Robert Seidel. Since Fall 2019 he has been teaching sound art at the TransArts class of University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
