Simina Oprescu’s multidisciplinary praxis handles from detailed oriented maximalist stereo compositions to immersive multichannel minimalism that alters the acoustic space. In her work, Simina follows an investigative path of structures and phenomena that determine rhythm or follow a pattern. She creates strong yet sensible narratives around actively explored concepts inspired by spatial arts, psychoacoustics, and sculptural installations that involve a philosophy of participation, movement, and gesture.
She received a BA in 2016 from the Dynamic Image and Photography Department at UNArte (Bucharest) and studied at the department of acousmatic composition at the Royal Conservatory of Mons (Belgium) for one year (2017-2018). She is currently residing in Berlin, continuing her studies at the UdK’s M.A. – Sound Studies and Sonic Arts, 2021-present.
